10 K at Night around Lake Bled
The Ten K at Night around Lake Bled began in 2007 when a barefoot running club named Vitezi Dobrega Teka (Knights of Good Run) had an idea to promote recreational events around Lake Bled.
The annual event is held the second Saturday in July. The program starts at 4 p.m. with the opening ceremony. After the ceremony, you can walk through the running fair, hang out with your friends, meet other people, or watch the 1.2 kilometer (0.8 miles) run for children. The starting time of the 10 K race is at 10 p.m.
There are more than 3,000 runners from Slovenia and 25 other countries from around the world – and almost the same number of supporters. This event attracts some world-class athletes from Slovenia who also like to run for fun occasionally. There are also athletes who have participated at the Olympic games and even Olympic medalists!
After finishing the run, you can jump in the lake for refreshment as the air temperature is around 25 degrees Celsius (77 Fahrenheit) and the lake is around 23 Celsius (73 Fahrenheit).
Instead of a medal, you will get a souvenir fork, so you can eat a well-deserved famous cream pie at the end of your night run!
After the official race is finished, a local music group starts to play, and the party begins! You can stay until 2 a.m. when the party is over, and take with you an unforgettable experience!
