Day 1: Welcome to Slovenia
We'll meet in Ljubljana at noon and have a welcome lunch. After lunch, our guide will walk through the streets of Ljubljana with us, then you'll have an hour on your own. After this, we'll proceed to the small town of Tolmin, the beginning of our mountain adventure.
Day 2: Before we start
On our first day we’ll visit the natural spring Grofova voda. Local lore purports that the Grofova voda Spring has medicinal powers. This was confirmed with medical measurements which showed the chemical composition of the healing waters. After you’ve quenched your thirst and replenished your water supplies, take a few minutes to rest and admire the famous elm tree that has been growing by the Grofova voda Spring for several decades.
Day 3: Kolovrat and WW1
The most beautiful part of this Julian Trail is the spacious viewpoint of the Kolovrat ridge, where the third line of defense of the Italian army took place during WWI. Today, the museum of nature helps us remember. The distance for the first part is 12. 6 km (7.8 miles), taking us less than 5 hours to complete.
Day 4: The view
The second stage runs along the Kolovrat ridge and offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Julian Alps, the Soča Valley, Venice, and the Friuli lowlands, all the way to the Adriatic Sea. This stage is 20.5 km (12.7 miles) long and can be completed in 7 hours.
Day 5: More of the view
The next stage leads from the highest point of Brda, Korade (812 m/2664 ft), with the view of the western Julian Alps, the Friuli lowlands, the Brda Hills, and the Adriatic Sea, to the picturesque and oft-visited Brda medieval village of Šmartno. The path is 10.8 km (6.7 miles) long and can be completed in 3 hours.
Day 6: Simply enjoy the peace
This stage leads from Šmartno over the Sabotin hill, and all the way to Solkan. This route connects Brda with the Bohinj railway and Posočje on one side and the Vipava valley on the other. The route is 13.7 km (8.5 miles) long, and it takes less than 5 hours.
Day 7: Enjoy Goriška Brda region
Today we’ll explore Goriška Brda, try their famous wine, Teran, and see how they make prosciutto. Prepare your taste buds for an adventure!
Day 8: Move on
